“we all know there were plenty of poc artists that deserved to be nominated for the ‘best pop album of the year’ award tonight at the GK Awards but of course they continuously only include white artists. @gkentertainment why does this happen every year?”

Tyler @laxbro17

“@srfillis all of the people who were nominated deserved a nomination, no matter what other people are saying”

GK Entertainment @gkentertainment

We at GK Entertainment hear you and take your concerns very seriously. Over our seventy-three year history, GK has endeavored to support and uplift marginalized people. Such nominees include Walter Wharton (Sound Mixing).

Serena @srfillis

“@laxbro17 you’re missing the point. The GK Awards constantly shuns poc artists and stick to their “white-only” awards. they always cover-up their bluntly racist awards by saying they’re “inclusive.”

Tyler @laxbro17

“@srfillis yeah, but Jennie Garcia presented the awards this year, so it’s not ONLY white people”

Serena @srfillis

“@laxbro17 out of every nominee at the awards tonight, only ONE poc artist was nominated for an incredibly minor category. the GK Awards do this every year, and continuously get called out for it but change nothing about it. if anything, @jcolest should’ve been nominated for the ‘best pop album of the year’.”

Tyler @laxbro17

“@srfillis well at least they got nominated”

Serena @srfillis

“@laxbro17 that “they” you’re referring to is Walter Wharton, probably one of the best sound mixing artists of this generation. an apology means nothing without recognition and change, so @gkentertainment do better because this is unacceptable.”
